BUENOS AIRES, Argentina, September 2021 - Allison Transmission, a leading designer and manufacturer of conventional and electrified vehicle propulsion solutions and the largest global manufacturer of medium- and heavy-duty fully automatic
transmissions for commercial and defense vehicles, makes up more than 40% of Unión Platense bus fleet in La Plata.
Unión Platense is a transport company founded in 1938 that works in 10 urban, interurban and long-distance bus line areas connecting several destinations such as La Plata, Berisso, Ensenada, Magdalena, Ranelagh, Berazategui, Brandsen, San Miguel
del Monte, Las Flores, Ranchos, Gral. Belgrano, Azul, Olavarría and Gral. La Madrid.
Union Platense owns a fleet of around 420 units, and more than 40% are equipped with Allison T270R transmissions.
“Driver comfort is essential since the driver is responsible for passengers’ safety and comfort. In fact, automatic transmissions are the best option to reduce a driver’s stress so they can be more focused on driving. Vehicles with Allison
transmissions work very well for our urban bus operations, with reduced wear and low maintenance cost, which are essential for our company," said Fernando Assad, fleet manager.
Allison Automatics are unique because the patented torque converter is designed for reduced wear, requiring only periodic fluid and filter changes to ensure outstanding performance. Allison Transmissions are easy to service, getting vehicles back on the
road as soon as possible.
The Allison T270 with hydraulic retarder allows for extended brake life, reaching over 100.000km before changing brake pads, reducing downtimes for maintenance and improving company profits.
“Another advantage of the automatics is the elimination of bus downtime for frequent clutch replacements, which also contributes to the increase in the productivity of the fleet,” said Assad.
