Cargo drivers who use Hyundai Mighty trucks equipped with Allison’s fully automatic transmission are benefitting from using automatic vehicles
SEOUL, South Korea, August 2021 — Allison Transmission, a leading designer and manufacturer of conventional and electrified vehicle propulsion solutions and the largest global manufacturer of medium- and heavy-duty fully automatic
transmissions for commercial and defense vehicles announced that its customers who operate cargo trucks are benefitting from the features of the fully automatic transmission.
In October 2020, Choi Min-ho, who works in the cargo transportation industry in Ansan, Gyeonggi Province, purchased a Hyundai Mighty truck equipped with Allison’s fully automatic transmission. Prior to this, he had driven the Hyundai Mighty manual
truck for 10 years. He cited comfort and affordability as the biggest strengths of Allison Automatics.
"I had to travel all over the country from Ansan, but manual vehicles were too uncomfortable. Gear shifting and clutch operation were difficult," said Choi. "I was often exhausted after a day of work. However, since the day I started using my Hyundai
Mighty truck equipped with Allison’s fully automatic transmission, I was able to work more comfortably. Wherever I go, such as highways, streets and hills, I work without any difficulties or tiredness. I'm very satisfied with Allison."
The drivers of automatic vehicles feel less fatigue as they do not need to operate the clutch or shift gears. Thus, since the drivers can be more productive and transport more cargoes, they can earn more monthly income than when they used manual vehicles.
Although there are variations depending on the individuals, drivers are known to have earned at least 10 percent to at most 30 percent more than when they used manual vehicles. As the monthly income increases by using trucks equipped with fully automatic
transmissions, Allison Transmission’s popularity among the cargo drivers who seek to purchase Hyundai Mighty is increasing.
According to Choi, cargo drivers often have to replace the triple disc and clutches of manual vehicles due to frequent breakdowns but the cost of replacement is financially burdensome. Choi said many drivers in their forties have bad knee joints and shoulders
due to clutch operation and gear shifting.
"The Hyundai Mighty truck equipped with Allison’s fully automatic transmission allows drivers to work more comfortably, increasing their efficiency and productivity," said Choi. "As I do not get sick or tired, I can work more and my monthly income
has significantly increased compared to when I drove the manual vehicle. In many ways, automatic vehicles seem to be more economical."
"In the light duty truck market, the Hyundai Mighty truck equipped with Allison transmissions is showing excellent performance in terms of price, ease of operation, productivity, and power," said Kyoungmee Lee, Regional Director of Allison Transmission
Korea. "Allison Transmission will do its best in sales and customer service so that various customers can benefit from our fully automatic transmission.”
